Prepping the Plants
PART TWO
Next, we’re going to prepare the plants before they are pressed. If you can’t press them right away, put them in a ziplock bag and store it in a refrigerator. To maintain the color and freshness of the flora, we are going to:
- If using flowers, cut any stems at a 45˚ angle, and place immediately into water.
- Remove leaves that are lower than the waterline, as they will collect unwanted bacteria.
- Add into vase with water.
- Add plant food or a teaspoon of sugar.
- Keep in a cool ventilated place for a few hours.
- If using thicker flowers (such as a rose), cut in half, so it will fold flatly.
